Why We Rock?
Agility and clarity
We work using short iterations. This helps us monitor the progress and also keep the customer apprised of the work being done. If there is a better way to do something, we are likely already using it. Thanks to automated testing and continuous integration we have achieved working conditions wherein efficiency and speed are above par.
The best tools
We always try to use the best tools suited for the situation. We are not afraid to use Python scripts, Ruby tests or other tools to enhance our work and keep everything under control. Linux, VMware, Mercurial, JIRA, Confluence and Fisheye – these form only a small selection of the supporting tools we use on a daily basis.
Challenging projects
We are certain that challenges are part of the fun. We enjoy complex tasks. We know that our goal is to solve problems and we have not yet come across one that we could not successfully tackle. We appreciate creating solutions to even the most obscure of problems before us and admiring the outcome. If necessary, we generate an abundance of code and put it through a rigorous testing regime, ending up with a solution worthy of the Proekspert name.
We respect beautiful code
We realize that it is easy to reach a working solution using a number of quick hacks. We also know that there is always a price to pay for this later on. Code written in the past will remain to meet you in the future – and we wish to make sure that this encounter will be a pleasant one. We refactor code as soon as it starts to degrade. We want the code to be beautiful both from the inside as well as on the outside and we work hard putting this into practice.
Good sleep
If you are not a morning person, we do not force you to be at the office at nine o’clock sharp. We appreciate if your tasks get done and we can reach you when needed. What is most important: your schedule should be acceptable to those whose work depends on you.
Work environment
A comfortable chair, chosen by experts, modern computing hardware and a large monitor are available for use in our cozy office. We would like you to enjoy yourself so that you could be productive at all time. The working conditions are easily adjustable, in terms of light and potentially distracting elements. Tell us what you prefer and we will make it happen. When you need to take a break and relax, we have a well-equipped leisure room, a library and a kitchen with a coffee machine to help you restore lost energy.
Overwork is not cool
We do not expect you to overextend your abilities- everything has to stay within reasonable limits.
My boss is cooler than me!
All of us are assigned to teams. It is often difficult to say who is in charge. It has never prevented us from accomplishing projects, although it has avoided establishing classical manager-employee relationships. We do laugh at Dilbert, but not bitterly at ourselves. Everyone connects with everyone and the proverbial microphone is always open.
A team with experience
Are you getting tired of being the best in your team? We can offer you some competition. Our varied team means that you will always find someone to look up to. Sometimes in embarrassment, but you will always have a chance to learn. You cannot be the best in everything, but with your knowledge you have your own part to play in a beautiful symphony. We do not compete, but respect and learn from each other.
A place for learning
Daily challenges have us up against tasks that we did not have knowledge of just a week ago. Constant and quick learning is a normal part of our day, as is sharing the experience and knowledge with others. All exciting things and discoveries find their way onto our blog, even more exciting data is shared at various seminars. Initiative is never punished - if you like to build robots, we help you and there is always another team member who shares your interests.
Free beer
From time to time (but definitely at least four times every year and sometimes more) we hold recreational events with lots of free food and drink. We make sure that neither physical nor mental challenges are missing from these events – but the main idea is to have some good old-fashioned fun. Our organizational committee is responsible for making sure that there is always something for everyone. And if you should prefer lemonade to beer, we will definitely have that on the menu as well.
