Agility and clarity

We always work using short iterations. We want to know ourselves and show to all parties where we are with our work: what has been done and what is being done. Hundreds of pages of project documentation does not resonate with our desire for clarity. If there exists a better way to do something, we are already using it. Thanks to automated tests and continuous integration we have made our work itself to help us to do our work.

The best tools

We always try to use the best tools for a given situation. We are not afraid to use Python scripts, Ruby tests or any other tool to do our work well and have everything under control. Linux, VMware, Python, Ruby, Mercurial, JIRA, Confluence, Fisheye are just a selection of our every day assistants.

Challenging projects

We are certain that part of the fun is challenges. We enjoy complex tasks - the more difficult, the better. We know that our work is to solve problems; we have not yet come across any that we could not tackle. The stranger, more complex or deeper the problem, the more satisfaction we get in finding the solution and admiring the solution afterwards. If necessary, we decompile or create 6 versions and test them all. Sometimes, we fix APIs created by other people, at other times we write our own from scratch. We enjoy this and are used to being challenged.

We respect beautiful code

We know how easy it is to get to a working solution using a number of quick hacks. We also know that there is always a price to pay for this later. Code written in the past will be there to meet you in the future - and we want to make sure this encounter will be pleasant. We refactor code as soon as it starts to "stink". We want the code to be beautiful from the inside and outside and work hard putting this into practice.

Good sleep

If you are not a morning person, we don't make you come in by 9 o'clock sharp. We respect you if your tasks get done and we can reach you when needed. It is most important that your schedule is acceptable to others whose work depends on you.

Work environment

A comfortable chair, chosen by experts, a fast computer and a large monitor are yours in our cosy office. We like you to enjoy yourself so that you could be productive. There are not more than 4 to 5 people in large rooms, some of which are kept full of light, others dimmed. Tell us what you like and we will make it happen. When you want to take a break and relax, we have a well-equipped leisure room, library and a kitchen with a coffee-machine to restore energy.

Overwork is not cool

We are not expecting overwork - everything has to stay within reasonable limits.

My boss is cooler than me!

We work in teams, all of us. Quite often it is hard to say who is in charge. It has never prevented us from accomplishing projects, it has although avoided the classical manager-employee relationships. We laugh at Dilbert, but not bitterly at ourselves. Everyone connects with everyone and the microphone is always open. Welcome to the club, there is no membership fee!

A team with experience

Are you getting tired of being the best in your team? We can offer you some competition. Our varied team means that you will always find someone to look up to. Sometimes in embarrassment, but you will always have a chance to learn. You cannot be the best in everything, but with your knowledge you have your own part to play in a beautiful symphony. We do not compete, but respect and learn from each other.

A place for learning

Every day challenges make us deal with things that we did not have any knowledge of just a week ago. Constant and fast learning is a normal part of our day. So is sharing the experience and knowledge with others. The exciting things find the way to our blog, even more exciting things we share on seminars. R&D is definitely not an unknown combination for us. Initiative is not punishable - if you like to build robots, we help you and there is surely another team member who has the same interests.

Free beer

From time to time (at least 4 times a year, but sometimes more) we have special recreation events. Lots of food and drink and all free of charge. Maybe you want to engage in sports, perhaps wrestle with some brain teasers, but it surely is a lot of fun. Our organisational committee is responsible for making sure there is something for everyone. And if you prefer lemonade to beer, we will definitely have that as well on the menu.
